Hundreds of nice labels from the whole world

Collecting nice wine labels and ordering them per subject is becoming fashion.

This Web Site is a concession to this popular way, though without recommending it.

The best way to classify wine labels remains according to the wine that they represent.
If you are interested in the diversity of wines more than in the diversity of labels, please visit our twin site

200 Years of Wines of the World

Often a winery devotes a series of labels to the same subject.  Here, whenever possible and in order to increase the diversity of presentation, only one label per series is considered.
No subject is represented by more than 10 labels: more labels would become boring.
For similar reasons, most of the labels of this site are reproduced at low resolution.  This permits to present a greater number of subjects and a faster view of the labels.

Some famous, beautiful series are reproduced at the end of this page.

The choice of both, the subjects to be included in this site, and of the labels to represent a subject is largely a matter of taste.  Our selection nonetheless will show to a good extent also the weak points of our label collection.
We plan to add new subjects and to substitute some labels.
Suggestions of subjects and additions of better labels are encouraged and can be addressed to .

Bognard's “Passport Series“. Twelve images, originally conceived for the famous Liebig trading cards had an enormous success and were reproduced also as blank labels for liqueurs and, to a minor extent, for wines as well.  Printed in Paris at the end of the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century, these labels were sold to different printers in Europe where the name of a drink whatever given by their customers was added.  We know only five of these passport labels used for wine and referred to a set of nine different wines, all reprinted in Italy.

A special chapter...

A special chapter should be devoted to the wine to celebrate the Mass. The need for Altar Wine promoted plantation of the first vineyards in several countries remote from the traditional wine culture. In addition, the Mass Wine was the sole wine permitted in the U. S. during Prohibition.
